CBS Sports, home of Super Bowl XLVII, Queen and Helmut VonLichten have teamed to re-mix the iconic rock classic “We Will Rock You” with THE NFL ON CBS’s theme music to create a new anthem that will be featured in the opening main tease and throughout the Network’s game coverage of Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday, Feb. 3 (6:00 PM, ET).

VonLichten and Brian May of Queen collaborated to create “We Will Rock You VonLichten,” an epic orchestral mash-up of Queen's "We Will Rock You" and THE NFL ON CBS’s theme music, “Posthumus Zone.”

"I grew up playing 'air guitar' to ‘We Will Rock You’ and pretending to throw the winning long-bomb pass on Super Bowl Sunday,” says composer VonLichten.  “Now I'm opening Super Bowl XLVII with Queen.  Can life get any better?"

“We Will Rock You VonLichten,” the philharmonic homage to Queen's classic anthem, is a true collaborative masterpiece crafted when two creative musical forces collide in the studio.  Recorded amid a backdrop of a full orchestra, VonLichten was given rare access to the original master tapes of Freddie Mercury's vocals, and, of course, the iconic stomps. The sessions included May re-recording his legendary guitar parts. "Imagine blazing away on a scoring stage with Freddie, Brian and a 100-piece symphony?  That's a jam session to end all jam sessions."  The digital version is available today via iTunes.

VonLichten has had a long-standing relationship with CBS writing themes for such programs as COLD CASE, THE NFL TODAY and the U.S. OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS.  In 2010, VonLichten collaborated with Jay-Z for the opening tease of CBS’s Super Bowl XLIV coverage with a monumental mash-up, “Run This Town – Posthumus Zone.”

Sean McManus is Chairman, CBS Sports, and serves as Executive Producer of CBS Sports’ coverage of THE NFL ON CBS.  Harold Bryant is Executive Producer and Vice President, Production, CBS Sports.  Pete Radovich, Jr. is Creative Director, CBS Sports.
