Adam Lambert: "I Would Love To Make An Album With Queen" - Video

Adam Lambert wants to make an album with Queen.

The former 'American Idol' contestant has been singing with the group live in place of the late Freddie Mercury this summer, and is keen to record new material with original members Brian May and Roger Taylor.

When asked by UK radio station Capital FM if he would make a record with the group, he said: ''Yeah, I mean, I would love to work with them in any capacity in the future. I don't think I would turn any offer down."

''I mean, they're amazing! I don't know what it would be, but hey!''

Original Queen singer Freddie passed away in November 1991, and bass player John Deacon retired in 1997, but the band have continued, performing with singer Paul Rodgers between 2004 and 2009 and more recently Adam, after they played backing him in the final of 'American Idol' in 2009.

Last night (12.07.12) Queen and Adam played the second of three shows at London's Hammersmith Apollo venue, performing classic tracks including 'Under Pressure', 'I Want to Break Free', 'Another one Bites the Dust' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. Adam, drummer Roger and guitarist Brian all took turns to sing lead vocals and at a few points Freddie appeared on screen and sang, accompanying the band through archive footage. The band will play at the venue again tomorrow (14.07.12), their last scheduled show at this time.

WATCH QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT FULL CONCERT IN KIEV UKRAINE

Adam Lambert reunited with rock legends Queen in Kiev, Ukraine last night (June 30).The show, a benefit for the Elton John AIDS Foundation,  was one of six that Lambert performed with the classic British outfit this summer. John was also on the bill for the big night.

Lambert was beyond excited for the gig, telling ABC News (via Classic Hits and Oldies), “For me, personally, I think I’m gonna look back on this in years to come and kind of think, ‘Wow, what a treat. What an honor to be able to be asked to sing with legends.’ Their music is iconic and Freddie Mercury, for me, is obviously one the the very great performers in history and a definite idol for me.”

Despite being thrilled, it doesn’t mean the ‘American Idol‘ alum wasn’t totally nervous, either, especially since most Queen songs feature complicated and intricate vocal arrangements that require a wide range. Freddie Mercury has some big shoes and Lambert wasn’t necessarily trying to fill them! “There are a few [songs] that are daunting, let me tell ya!” Lambert said. “And then there’s some that I’ve sung many times before, so I’m excited for the challenge.”

Lambert, who previously performed with Queen at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2o11, was stoked in general to “get up there and to pay homage” to Mercury and to “pay respect to his memory as a performer.” Based on the video below, we think he  did a fantastic job!
